If bedbugs are a concern look at bedbugregistry.com. This will tell you what properties have had a problem. Some things to do look at the sheets, mattress, headboard and pillows. Also pull the luggage rack away from the wall. You are looking for red stains and if so get another room or another property. Where do you put your luggage when coming into the room on the bathroom floor as the bedbugs don't like tile. Good luck. |

There a few articles on the net referring to studies showing bedbugs prefer teetotalers and avoid drinkers in direct proportion to how much they drink. So don't turn down those free bug repellents when they're offered in the casino.
On the more serious side I always give the room a good look over for the little devils. |

A pithy response. The question is do you check to see if the property you're staying at has a problem and if so how do you handle it ? |

I don't think JD' s response as pithy.....it is informative. I never realized heavy drinking would make you immune. I am thinking that being passed out from a day of heavy drinking laying on the tile bathroom floor is the safest place to be.
I don't pay attention to these bed bug sites. They just tell you of a place that was reported. I always thought that a competitor down the street just has to place an anonymous report to boost his business. It doesn't tell you if they have taken care of the problem, how widespread of the problem or even if you at danger of staying in a room at any property at this time.
A relative of mine told me of a good friend that had a serious bedbug infestion in an apartment complex. They brought in a specially trained dog to sniff out bedbugs. I had never heard of such a thing....a bedbug sniffing dog. Yep- they were found in his apartment.
All my dog does- is sleep, eat, drink, poop and gas me when she lays near me. |

what a riot, I had no clue they actually had a registry site for this problem!
Holy crap, it appears that most of the casinos in Reno pop up when you type in Reno, NV! I do always check myself, but the only recent report I've seen lately on TripAdvisor was from the Silver Legacy. However, it looked like it was an irate customer, and he posted pictures of the bites on his legs, but they were somehow taken down a few days later.
CaSwede - that's a good dog. I've got a German Shepherd who slightly resembles that scenario, myself!
