No posts for a week so I thought I'd put in my two cents worth. (Maybe jump start the old board). Street Vibrations is on - That will keep John busy for the next few days. Alison must be back from the Pep by now - Hopefully enjoying her new found wealth. (We're patiently waiting for a trip report). And Mammoth, were lookng forward to the next installment in your ongoing trip report - Hope things have been going well.

As for us. The 18th was our anniversary so we roared down to the Silver Reef Casino in Washington and did some losing. The machines were brutal and I couldn't help thinking this is money that would be better risked in Reno. But we had an excellent dinner at their Panasia restaurant.

Happy anniversary! Y'know I have it written down, but that only helps if I look at the white board once in a while.

Yes, Street Vibes has been keeping me busier than I like, but it's done tomorrow.

If you had come to Reno, your luck would have been much better. Ghostbusters is patiently waiting to amuse you.

Yeah, the machines we tried didn't amuse, didn't shake or make cool noises. And watching the credit meter dwindle as fast as it did was less than entertaining. Confused

Thanks everyone! BC Dave, glad you got a chance to gambling somewhere. John, I know I haven't seen you in person in years but I recalled you were always busy with Street Vibrations and some of the other events going on around here. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up for a beer one of these days!

Alison - hope you left the Pep loaded! Every time I went in there during that time period it seemed like those Blazing 7s were going off and I was narrowly missing the top jackpots. I was pretty bummed to discover that the rows of $1 machines by the cashier's cage/racebook/Café Milano got relocated and my favorite $3 Double Ten Times Pay is now gone. I was able to locate the rest of the machines which had been moved to the middle of the Dino Dollars area, so at least they were able to salvage the $2 one!

Not much new news for me here. My part-time gig is going well, and I'm still doing the full-time job hunt as well. Getting kind of nervous, because my the last payment of my initial unemployment insurance claim posted on Tuesday, and I'm practically turning blue waiting to hear back from them regarding extension qualifications. I was finally able to get a PO Box set up at small mail center on Virginia, so at least I'm able to get my mail here now.

The crazy event of the week was "the shoe incident." Yup, during the weekend of Street Vibrations, I parked my one and only pair of shoes behind the Tiki Bar at the pool at Harrah's while visiting with some friends from Mammoth who were here for the weekend. 2 hours later, I went to get them and they were gone with the wind! Whoever would steal someone's used shoes is beyond me, but there was quite a crowd here so you just never know. It's actually pretty funny looking back at it now - I thrashed around downtown for over 2 hours trying to find somewhere that at least had a pair of sandals, but being a 13 wide makes it damn near impossible. My feet got burned bigger than life walking around barefoot on the desert-hot concrete but I was finally able to score a pair of black memory foam slippers at Walgreens, which actually held out for about 5 days of heavy abuse before finally falling apart.

I gotta admit, the crew at Harrah's Reno is awesome. I've introduced myself and Tessa to most of the staff there so they don't think we're hoodlums with all of our repeated check-ins. I got a total of 18 free comped nights there this month and it looks like there's even more in store for October as most of the major events and comp blackouts have passed. Not bad at all for just being able to sign into the Total Rewards account to book them without any coupons or offer codes! We pretty much have the route down pat - 3 days in at Harrah's, 2 days out elsewhere (been alternating between the various Motel 6 locations and the GSR), then 3 days back at Harrah's. I'll keep on doing it until the cows come home, you can't beat free! The Motel 6 on Wells could have a little better selection of places to eat nearby, but it's also a good $5-7 cheaper per night than the others. This is going to sound crazy, but the Stardust Street location really reminds me of the Gold Coast in Australia, with all the hills and little rink-dink apartments...the only difference being that instead of an ocean, there's an awesome view of downtown in the distance down the hill! Getting caught up on all the fast food restaurants I've been deprived of these past several years...Keystone Avenue is definitely "restaurant row."

A few more mixed $200 hits on the Blazing 7s, but nothing major yet.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks for the update Mammoth. Sorry to hear about the shoe incident. I've gotten good deals on shoes at "Big 5 Sports" and "Ross Dress for Less". Although at "Big 5" some of the name brand shoes may have been knock-offs. Hope the job market perks up for you soon. (And the Blazing Sevens too!)

MG, Street Vibrations is done and gone and the only events we have scheduled for this year are two parades and a motorcycle rally in Palm Springs, so a beer or six is in order. Let me know when you can find time in your busy schedule and we'll get this done.
