Formerly CommRow, the new owners are going to call it Whitney Peak Hotel (I'm told that's a mountain in Colorado, not the same as Mount Whitney in California). I haven't seen a lot of activity there lately but I guess they're making progress toward their eventual re-opening. Hope they succeed. Here's more:

I hope they can make a go of the new hotel. With over 200 rooms, it might be tough to fill the hotel, as a lot of visitors in that area are used to getting comp rooms from their casino action. I was looking for rates, but they said to book.......see your travel agent. ??? |

"New Owners" - what a chilling phrase; it seems only days ago that I was tearing apart every one of their themed restaurants before they'd even opened.
I offered a supportive disclaimer, but that was plainly bad karma, and now we return to the endless wonder-what's-going-on speculation...
Oh, Reno, you were such a proud and beautiful lady...but what man would want you now?? |

Ya... KARMA. I was very alone when I ragged on Fitzgerald's after they cheated me out of a $ 1600 jackpot many years ago. ("machine malfunction..." when payline was not exactly thru dead center all 3 leprechauns).
Back then, I was more naive. But I placed a curse on that place... it seems to have worked.
Too bad my curse remains with the unnamed "new owners". |

JD, that's quite an anecdote; changes my view of the entire Fitz effort...in fact, just recently, I noticed that the Fitz in Vegas had finally become something else...perhaps that was noted here, but I had no recollection of it.
The brand is truly dead, and if they were really were in the habit of denying payouts due to malfunction of their own machines, then it's hard not to conclude, "good riddance". |

Sometimes I regret I only know how to place a curse and never learned how to lift one.
I never said the machine did malfunction...but that was their claim. Remember in that "Lucky Lane... up to 99.9% payout"? They had a bunch of 3 reel slots very similar to red/white/blue seven slots? Except THESE had the jumping leprechaun.
Well on a $ 1 , three coin bet, I had all three leprechauns lined up on the pay line except two had the line thru the chest and one hit his knees. THEY called it a malfunction... but the gathering crowd said it should PAY.
Today, I would demand the machine be locked down, call the gaming commission, stand my ground, start taking pictures and collecting witness statements.
I never went in the place again since I placed my HEX on that building. I was pretty sure it would fall down. It still might. |

Sorry, I should have said, "due to *claimed* malfunction of their own machines..." - I'd assume that ol' JD wouldn't actually stoop to trying to manipulate the reels...right? |
