I stayed at Boomtown a couple of weeks ago. The rooms are very nice. They went through and did a nice upgrade. Boomtown has new owners, but the place is not that busy during the week. They are bringing in entertainment now and hopefully that will bring in more people.
Bus schedule? Years ago they had a shuttle service to downtown, but I don't think there is any service. Most people drive to Boomtown and of course Cabela's is right next door. |

Boomtown is okay, but small. It's FAR from downtown and I think way out of range for bus service - it's almost to the California border... I'd opt for the other casino you inquired about over Boomtown.
Have you scoped out The Sands? It's sorta near downtown, but I've not been there at all... |

Boomtown is (or at least WAS) one of the best hotels to stay if you had kids.
While I haven't stayed there for years, they used to have a huge arcade that was pretty well staffed with high school staff. You could even buy an all day pass for a Universal Studios type action motion theater.
A short walk away is the scene of one of the great Western train robberies (http://cprr.org/Museum/Robbery.html0 and remnants of a one time swanky resort.
I should visit Boomtown next trip. |
