Just thought I'd share this, because I found it quite hilarious!
Over the weekend, I was making the rounds between the Silver Legacy and the Eldorado doing my daily Mansion and Treasures card kiosk sweeps. Without realizing it, I accidentally swiped my Eldorado Card at the Silver Legacy kiosk, and lo and behold:
OK, my name is not Brenda! Thank God these things are pin number protected or someone might really get into trouble! I love you to pieces, Silver Legacy...first your security guards are mistaking daily local patrons for trespassers, and now this...

So when you put THAT card into a machine, does it show YOU (Brenda) how many comps you have?
Note: Never lose your Siena card if it has points on it. Anyone that finds it can use it for meals without any other ID. |

Hi JD!
Well, I believe there was a time a few months ago when I actually placed my Silver Legacy card in a Blazing 7s machine at the Eldorado by accident and simply got an "Invalid Card" error, so I'm guessing it's just limited to the super kiosks and the Mansion/Treasure kiosks. Both places also follow that same rule on actual machines where you must enter your pin to check your comp balance, withdraw free play, or request drink service.
Regarding those kiosks, though, it would only take a card with a "hackable" pin number for someone to gain access. Kind of scary considering one can convert comps to free play, enter or withdraw promo entries, or like the case is at the Eldo, optimize the account for either more free play or more comps.
I hear ya about the Siena card - Harrah's follows the same rule. The only safeguard on that note is the numerous signs around the casinos that state, "Use of another person's player's card is prohibited," but I doubt that would stop anyone!

Funny Story, Mammoth:
When I unpacked my suitcase at home, I found a half bottle of red wine. It took me a while to remember where it came from.
But I know where it went soon thereafter. |

right on JD, glad you made it back safely. It was great meeting you, and hurry back soon!
Go figure I talked to my former assistant at the newspaper the other day, and it's so funny, because he started dating my other former assistant about 6 months ago. Glad something worked out for somebody at that rathole newspaper! Anyway, guess where they're moving this fall? PORTLAND!

Have them contact me... I'll show them around town. Then maybe they can buy my house. Then I can move to Reno! |

That is a funny glitch. I wonder if the Silver Legacy is trying to tell you it is time to get a haircut?
I remember playing somewhere years ago when I ran into a similar error. It was an old card reader that would scroll across that you had just earned so many points. I had been playing for quite awhile and happened to glance at the card reader and thought I saw the word Denise. "Congratulations Denise you have just earned 55 points." I started to pay more attention and sure enough- I was Denise (no I am not) WTF? I pulled out the card, reinserted it and there I was changed back to the Swede.
Denise got a bunch of points from me. |
