A few items in the news this week mentioned new projects that eventually might come to pass in Reno?Sparks.

The first was about the start of construction of the Imax theater at the Sparks Legends. This is actual construction, not just plans and permits, but no finishing date was projected:

Also in Sparks the long talked about Legends Bay Casino got approval of its updated plans. I think one of the hangups was that an unrestricted gaming license requires a hotel of at least 200 rooms. This plan included that many, but split between two buildings. There was some concern whether that met the requirement. I suppose the developers found two smaller buildings either more economical to build and operate, or more aesthetic given the marina front location. Anyway, hope they get it going soon:

At the other end of town, developers are talking about rebuilding the Boomtown truck stop that was taken down to make room for Cabela's. Seems like a good idea, that truck stop was much more popular than the sporting goods store:
