In the location that used to be the Silver Club, they expect to be open by Hot August Nights. It's to be called the Bourbon Street Casino with (what else) a New Orleans theme, operated by Northern Star Casinos that operate three casinos in Elko. They have a little bit about it on their web site:

Perhaps there's hope for the region yet?
After all, Indian gaming may have crested; it's had a good ten years of establishing itself, and the entrenched patterns may hold, meaning that there's now room for more providers....

Nope, but unfortunately, in operation it might not be much different. Follow-up reports say that the casino will be slots only, no table games, the hotel rooms will not be open, and there will be one restaurant. That's about what Duke's offered when it was open. Still, its a big improvement from a closed and shuttered building. |

That's great news! I always liked the old Silver Club which sort of had a ole west theme. I've never stayed overnight in Sparks, let alone the Silver Club, but from what I hear their "hotel" wasn't much. So I'd have to say opening as a casino only is a smart move. Good luck to them!
Didn't Harold's Club call part of their operation the "Bourbon Street Casino"? |
