Yes, it was for sure salmonella, and unfortunately there were about 5 different booths where chicken and wings were consumed, so who knows?
So, what is this Blazing 7s joke you are speaking of?

Argh! Nope, didn't pick up on that one without clicking on the link.
Well, it probably would have been "too soon" for like, five minutes, but in the Internet age, anything over 24 hours is soooo totally in the past.
Mammoth, I feel your pain; I don't know if I had salmonella, but the last time I had food poisoning, I just retched my way through without even a hospital stay, although if it were to happen again, I would probably make an effort to actually seek treatment, 'cuz that can be life-threatening!
Incredibly unpleasant!!!

Thanks, Stan! Yes, it can be deadly, which is why I took action, as I've had a few bouts with mainstream botulism that I've just ridden out. I think the clincher was when my host saw me at the concierge desk and said, "Uh, you're turning green and sweating like a pig. Can we give you a ride somewhere?" I guess it's widespread everywhere in this heat though, because one of my friends in Mammoth got hit with something similar at the 4th of July festival there. Stay safe everyone - foodborne illnesses are real, and can be deadly!
With the ER's mention of several reported cases of both from this event each year, you'd think the people running the show would maybe establish some type of protocol for their vendors so this doesn't happen. But, as one my good friends in North Carolina put it when she called to see how I was doing (and I apologize for the bluntness, but she truly tells it like it is!): "Wow. I guess the event promoters don't give rectal exams to their food vendors like they do here!" CLASSIC!
Oh, and speaking of food poisoning and the "said event promoters," I got daring one evening and went to the SL to try out the new Hussong's. Two words: DON'T BOTHER! Nothing like the original in Ensenada that I've been to, completely unknowing staff, huge wait times for both seating and food arrival, and very expensive, even with leftover comps applied. You know, just typical SL style
JD: Ok, like Stan, I didn't get it until I saw the link. To quote that very old Budweiser commercial:
"Damn! That's COLD!"

Ya, I was wondering if I'd catch hell for being too early on the bad taste jokes. Ya gotta watch out for stuff that tastes "off", right?
Mammoth, let me axe you sumpin 'bout the street chow.
Did they take MONEY at the food booths? Because at the Chili cookoff and Testicle Festival in VC, you pay cash for tickets, then use the tickets to trade for food. Not foolproof, but less likely money will be handled by food worker.
And salmonella is related to Typhoid Fever and can be a killer.
When I was in the Army, I had my "ick" factor surgically removed. ANd eating native in Asia can be riskier than HALO jumping at night.
And I can appreciate Mexican food too. But I never have grasped the concept of paying $ 20 for 75 cents worth of beans and rice... even with a dollars worth of queso on top. |

Hi JD, I was comped both days unlimited thanks to the Eldo (and NOT the SL!) but I think there were a few options where someone could pay by the booth, or pay by the day, or both. I did see a few tickets lying around though, so not sure.
And yes, Mexican food is supposed to be cheap. And good. It is at the real Hussong's in Ensenada, anyway!
Ok, this is only the third day or so where my stomach's been totally right, so off to the Top Deck! Messaging everyone some prime rib and fries...or maybe an El Gordo burrito?

Stop at the Skyway bar and say hi to JP. Drop my name... he should remember me.
Get a glass of red wine before going into the top deck for prime rib.
I like sittin at the counter and watchin how hard the line cooks work... and they put out a LOT of chow. Usually three of them, one dishwasher, one prep. They MIGHT remember the $ 2 bill guy. I try to duece them all. They always SAY I'm their favorite and ONLY tipper.
A baked tater is a buck more than fries. Be sure to ask for horseradish and au jus.

For example if a handpay amount is $1,177.77 they round it to the nearest dollar for the dollar denomination so the handpay is $1,178. |

Well, I'll be damned...a BLUE Blazing Sevens tattoo?!?!? What would Bally Tech say?
And yes, regarding the rounding up, it's kind of odd, but it seems every casino on the corridor is doing it differently these days. The Cal Neva Nevadan jackpots always round up to the nearest dollar, hand pay or not. Harrah's used to round up to the nearest dollar, but are now giving exact change. The Eldorado always seems to be in the "exact change" category as well, along with the Peppermill.
