Smoke form the King and other Western fires has been rolling into the Reno/Tahoe area this week in record billows. Restaurants have closed their outdoor patio areas, football games and other outdoor school activities have been cancelled, and yesterday the air quality index was worse than Beijing's, just one notch away from hazardous. In fact, it got so bad I actually went into the Cal Neva to get away from the smoke.
Predictions for upcoming days call for a change in the wind and resulting lessening of smoky conditions. Hopefully everything will be clear by next week's Street Vibrations. |

Thanks Remano. I checked the Virginia Street Webcam a few minutes ago and things looked a little hazy but not too bad.
But, must have been pretty bad if you had to duck into the Cal-Neva for relief from smoke! |

This would be the mirror of that old joke about having too much blood in one's alcohol-stream, thus: "I'm going to Cal-Neva - there's too much fresh air in my smoke-stream!" |
