Credit for the following goes to http://haroldsclubmovie.org/ . This is from their facebook page ...
A Google image search for "Harold's Club Reno" turns up many cool pictures (even one or two from their somewhat "racy" calendar!)

Gee, If I had known, I would have baked a birthday cake. I remember Harolds club from way back, but mostly the signs advertising Harolds club all along the Highways.
Anybody know if that movie has been finished....or will never be completed? |

Here is their last Facebook post that pertained to release information.
Harolds Club Movie
December 28, 2014
A lot of people have been asking, so here is the current situation with the release of the Harolds Club documentary. We need to raise about $2200 to have the DVDs duplicated and cases printed. This amount should also get us online with Video on Demand. Since this documentary is a grassroots effort (meaning we (I) don't have that kind of money), we'll be needing to do some fundraising. What form or shape that will take, I don't know yet. Once we can raise that amount, we can get this movie into your hands - we'd like nothing more than to do that! The Smith family did so much for the Reno community - this is going to be the community's way of giving back. Please stay tuned...
Their FB page does frequently feature some neat old photos from Harolds Club and Reno's days gone by. |

The latest from the Harolds Club Movie facebook page. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... this movie is currently at the DVD production facility - we should have this documentary available to you shortly! Stay tuned!"
I have no idea what this DVD will cost. I'm pretty much obligated to buy it since I've probably been their biggest supporter online. |

My memories of Harold's Club:
"Harold's Club or Bust" signs every 50 mile or so. Along with Burma Shave signs.... made the drive much faster.
The "air curtain" open front door. Several trips in the late 50's I had never seen a building without a front door. They never closed, so there was always the wide open door with the beer, stale cigarette smoke and distinct odor I would later have flash backs to.
The Gun collection on the mezzanine. Old six guns, WWI machine guns, and the biggest shotgun I have ever seen. Like a XXXXL 12 ga which had to be bolted to a boat and made to shoot a couple hundred ducks (ON THE WATER) with each shot. Lots of old West stuff.
The Slots made up as Cowboys and Indians and all manner of novelty characters.
Live music on the casino floor. |

My first recollection of Reno when we came west in a covered wagon, or was it a 49 chev? I forgot. but when we walked in the front door there was about
a 20' white Polar bear standing there. I'm not sure if it was Harold's club but
it was awesome. That I'll never forget! |
