Hey spdmrcht, I believe it's the Reno Sculpture Fest being held on May 6, 7 and 8. Given the current weather, I think it should be renamed to "Reno Sculpture Wash". For more information, click here. |

I think John has the right answer. N. Virginia is closed from Second to Fourth, along with the train trench cover on either side. At least part of one of the sculptures looks like a big orange ball, if that's what you're seeing. Here's another site about the event:

Speaking of fences and balls (of the wrecking ball variety this time), the mayor a few days ago said the demolition of the fenced-in, boarded up Golden West Motel property across from Circus Circus will begin in a couple weeks. No current plans for what is to replace it but even a vacant lot is better than what is there now. Here's the announcement (the article incorrectly places it on South Virginia):

OK, glad to hear that, I was afraid they were going to demolish the Reno
Sign, a while back some person with more money than brains was
proposing tearing it down and building a new one! |
