Ok, i am looking for help from some of you who stay hear. I know Jerry, Karen, and PEB might be able to help me out.
I was wondering what the rooms are really like there? Are they worn down? What types are better then others? I was thinking of staying there as i get offers about once a month form them.

I have never stayed at the Fitz, but from what I've gleaned by observation, it sounds like the mini-suite is the way to go, if you can swing it.
It must be nice hearing no train whistles in that area these days, too!
They really, really ought to get their entertainment to sing that song, "Puttin' on the Ritz", but sing it as "Puttin' on the Fitz". |

Fitz is my new fav place in Reno. Of course, it probably helps that we stay for free, (or small amount for weekends).
The rooms are clean, larger than usual, have a dressing/sink area outside the bathroom in addition to the one in the bathroom, and a coffee maker. I like the ease of room to casino, so you can play right up to passing out/falling asleep.
Complaints would be the very slow elevators, the closing of the buffet during winter months, and the beds are firmer than usual. |

Thanks everyone for the replies.
So the rooms are pretty clean? The just look so old and dated in the pictures on the website. Are those pretty accurate? |

They're pretty accurate on the website. While the rooms seem old, due to the style and dark colors, they are not really worn, with the linens or fixtures, and they are clean. |

We haven't stayed there, but several of our guests have when they've come to visit so I've been in a few of the rooms. They are plain, but not dirty or worn out. Nobody we've referred there has had any complaints. If you don't mind the absence of a pool (not much of a consideration this time of year) it's a reasonable choice, especially if you're getting a special rate. |

ok thanks everyone. I might have to give them a try.
I need to start playing there again so i can get the 75.00 food credit again. We love using that at Limericks. They stopped sending me that since i have not played there in awhile. They sure send me tons of room offers though.
One last question, are the rooms very sound proofed? Can you hear your neighbors in the other rooms? i am not worried so much about the train.
oh and just how slow are the elevators?? |

Sound: if you're on the train side, and have your window open (like we do), you can still hear the train. It will bother you if you are a light sleeper. Window shut, side away from the tracks, no problem. As for neighbor noise, minimal. The rooms also have loud fans for their systems which whitewash noise.
Elevators: Yes, they are slow and a little odd. They sometimes say the wrong floor, or drop a few feet unexpectantly. They are aware of the elevator problems, and have loveseats to sit on while waiting, also clever sayings and cartoons making fun of them. Since you expect it, the 3-5 minute wait is fine. |

Alison,
Hubby and I made the Fitz our home away from home 2 years ago....and to us, it was the best switch we made (used to stay at the Eldorado until they did me wrong).
While it isn't a resort type hotel, the rooms are large, clean and quiet, I've never heard the neighbors. We've stayed in the free rooms as well as the mini suite, both were large & clean. The mini suite has more furniture, a sitting area, larger tv, mini frig, and thicker bath towels. But either way, we've always enjoyed our rooms. And both had in-room coffee makers
Check-in & out has always been fast and friendly. The staff are very friendly and nice, they make their guests feel welcomed. The casino always has a fun atmosphere about it too. As for the elevator, there is a sign on each floor that has little jokes about it being slow.....but the many times we've stayed there, we never had to wait long for one.
Hope this info helps
We leave for the Fitz in approx. 10 hours....woohooo! |

Allison, everyones comments on the Fitz are right on. We always stay there free and its our favorite casino. We love to have the windows open at night for fresh air and the train doesnt bother us. Yes, the elevators are slow but we have more time than money Barb |

I agree with everyone else on this one Alison. We have stayed there 3 or 4 times now. And it always has been free. The rooms are little outdated, but are clean. Haven't had a complaint yet. Love the Fitz.
