I am missing Reno. I got the urge to gamble last week, but have an impending Disneyland trip in April. So, I can not justify a Reno trip right now.(Well, I could justify one but my wife keeps pointing out that I have plane tickets to pay for) So, I did something I have not done for almost 2 years. Went to one of Oregon's Indian casinos. OMG !!! I could not believe it. The slot area (while huge since they have added on) seemed like death. Everyone silently pushing buttons and no one looking like they were having fun. I headed to the table games and could not believe the limits. They had only one 3 card poker table going with $15 minimum. Yikes !!! 3 craps tables. One $5 which was full with people waiting. A $10 that was packed and a $25 with no one playing (shocking !!). 6 deck blackjack unless you played $100/hand (single deck) or $25/hand (double deck). They did have a $5.00 table with an 8 deck shoe !!!!!
Oh do I need a trip to Reno where I can find some $3 tables !!! |

I just returned from a trip to the Oregon Coast. The casinos are soooo tight. It makes me irritated that i was not in Reno instead. I could not belive how tight they are. Not ot mention in the Oregon casinos, you cannot drink alcohol while gambling. I thought the two go hand in hand?? |

Hey Alison and Evandors,
Yeah, y'all need a Reno trip. I'll be sure to play a few rounds for you next Fri night - I'm going back (and got my Imperial Suite this time)! I didn't think about it until just now but it's my birthday. I need another run at the Pep like the one I had last month!
I hear ya about the Indian casinos...unfortunately that's all we have here, and they're all at least 2 hours away and it sounds about the same as Oregon's if not worse. The casino ships are just up the road but are even tighter than the Indian casinos so it's not really worth it.
The Seminole tribe here in FL just passed another law, and now there are real Vegas (and Reno!) slots here. Before it was just generic video multiliners, then they got the popular brands, and now it's the real deal. In addition, they are also popping up in the Jai Alai frontons, greyhound tracks, sports books, poker rooms and all the other "almost-gambling" places we have here. I'm anxious to see how it works out.
You all go back to Reno soon! I'll post another trip report when I get back (not quite as long).

I also just returned fron a trip to the Oregon Coast and had a fun time. I hit $250 on a .25 cent machine and $400 on a .02 cent Mr. Cashman .
I still miss Reno though and like Allison, a beer and gambling seem to go together so miss that too. Barb |

Alison where did you stay down there? At the Casino? Funny cause we have vacationed in Lincoln City and oh what a change that town has gone through. Yeah I am sorry but when I get the urge to go to Reno I do all I can to stay out of the Local Indian Casinos cause it just doesn't compare. Like kissing your sister and I don't even have a sister.
Florida how long will you be in Reno for? I sure hope you can parlay your last trip into another great one. We are heading down to Reno for the Hoop tournament. 15 days and counting!

Hey Dave, well this will be a short trip, just next Fri nite. Just got word that Tahoe and Mammoth are getting heavily dumped upon (with snow that is) and the conditions are epic so back to Mammoth I go from there! Yeah, an exact repeat of that last trip would be awesome (especially with a multiplier) so I'm hoping for the best. I'm gonna be turning 34 at the Peppermill, I still can't believe it! Have a blast on your upcoming trip, best of luck and be sure to post a trip report when you get back.

Yes, Allison, we were at Chinook Winds Hotel and Casino. We were lucky with the weather as my husband likes to walk on the beach and I like to
play those slots. Never stayed in a suite there. Are they much nicer than the regular rooms? My Husband does play some craps and Keno. Barb |

The room was pretty decent. It was not sound proof at all though!!! You could hear everything. Poeple in the hallways and anythime the person above us ran their shower. Luckily it was a comped room so we did not actually pay for it. I guesswe did though if you consider all the money we lost there. We should have gone to reno!!
I think i will avoid that casino now as much as possible. Its too tight! |
