We've been in the 100 to 105 range, and will probably stay that way through next Thursday. Temp today is supposed to hit 106 with lightning late this afternoon. That makes the firemen very nervous. They've been doing an incredible job on fires lately considering the heat and wind conditions. It got so hot yesterday afternoon, I had to wet my cockatoos down to keep them from melting. Hell, I darn near took a shower myself! |

John, we've talked about you wetting your cockatoos.
Do we need a time-out "reminder"?
If this continues, we're going to have to take action. |

Damn and I thought it was hot here in Florida...fortunately today we're only at 97 and FLAT waves which brought no surf here yesterday. But man those are some unreal temps for Reno! John, hope the birds are OK.

Thanks FG, I kept them wet by misting them. They got pretty uncomfortable from the heat. We tied a 5 year old record at 108 and my boys just aren't used to that. Even turned on the air conditioner for a while. I hate to use it, because I don't believe in feeding the criminals at Sierra Pacific Power. I think I'll wander over to the Peppermill to cool off. |

Hey Platinum Man
Give your slot host a real job. He/she can spray Charlie and Higgins with Perrier while they douse you with Heinekens.
Here in Canada the snow has receded a little way up the mountains and expected to stay up there for a least a couple of weeks. It's a balmy 26 here in the afternoon.

The official numbers are in and .............drum roll............it was a tie for the all time record at 108 yesterday!!! The previous all time record was set July 10, 2002. The official records seem to be at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Next week is going to be hot also, but not as hot. As long as they have some cold beer at the Peppermill on Wed. I should be fine. |

99 degrees in Virginia City and RAINING (lightly)... rain is gone in 15 seconds but it feels good. Electrical storm in the distance. I think we may have another fireworks show tonight.
OH...the video poker machines are HOT !!!!
Sorry no time right now (4 pm Friday eve) for more trip reports...and I see smoke coming from Dayton.
More later.
Raining harder now.

From the Nevada Appeal:
"A Dayton building that once housed a volunteer fire department and was being used by the county to store fire gear was among the casualties of Friday's lightning storms that sparked several blazes in Northern Nevada. '
Not everyday does the Fire House burn down. Not everyday do I see it, and report it as it happens.
