Hi All !
What is the best steakhouse in Reno for a romantic dinner for two?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks!

I have heard that Harrah's Steak House is very good. I would imagine that it's romantic.
Unless you count the Top Deck in the Cal Neva then the only Steak House I've experienced first hand is the Steak House at the Pep. It's classy and the food is really good. Romantic? Yes indeedy! |

Jerry and I had a very romantic dinner at the Peppermill's steakhouse. At least it was until the waiter hit on him. |

As much as I hate to, I gotta go with John's recommendation on the Peppermill.
That was one of the best steaks, great atmoshpere, and well presented.
As for romantic....well, I missed that part. |

In the casinos Peppermill would be my first choice, followed by Harrah's steak house. Charlie Palmer's at Grand Sierra rates high based on his other locations but I have no personal experience there. Outside the casinos try the Washoe on west 4th St. just before McCarran. Though not steak houses, the two best special occasion restaurants outside the casinos, in my opinion, are LuLou's at 1470 S. Virginia and 4th Street Bistro at 3065 W. 4th St. |

The bartenders at the cube bar recommended Ruby's across from the PEP for the best prime rib they have had in the area. We never took the time to venture over. Silly us!

It has been a while but I would rate Harrah's steak house as a better choice over the Peppermill. Very old style elegant place with great service. Not a cheap place for dinner.
Just my thoughts.

Maybe CC is good, but I heard you had to wear a big red rubber nose while you dine.
Back me up on this idea, Jerry.
Siena's Lexie's has a wonderful view of the river and top notch service.
While it's fully priced, the first hour after they open has a limited three entree menu that used to be very resonable. As many of you know, I haven't been there for a while, but there are so few nice restaurants with views (I loved the top of the Flamingo Hilton) and I do enjoy watching the river run.
Go early, get a good seat by the windows.

( I see the price is now $ 18.95 for first 45 minutes) |

Well, since JD asked:
Yes, Lexie's is an excellent selection. I really prefer the ambience there over the Pep Steak House. Even the service has always seemed better to me.
an aside: (I always prefer the Pep Steak House when John buys me lobster). That being said, I'll go back to the main topic.
The food has always been superb at Lexie's, the view nice, the service superior. OTOH, at the Pep I am a complete nobody. At the Siena, they treat me like a VIP. But I think anyone would enjoy Lexies.
Sadly, in about 4 years or so, they have gone from 10 bucks to about 20 bucks for the early bird. Plus the choices are not nearly as special as they were in the beginning. Initially they even had fabulous breads which have gone by the wayside.
I have only had the early bird dinners there, not the premiums. Once when we had a coupon for 50 or 75 bucks (whatever), we ordered a bunch of appetizers to share with a bottle of wine instead of a full dinner. Very satisfying/filling and a lot of fun. Tasty as well.
And regarding John's comments about our recent dinner. The waiter was only hitting on me to make you jealous as a way of getting to you, the favored one. And I guess it worked. You disappeared right after our romantic dinner. I got stuck with the hostess. |
