What?!
Going to Tahoe? But you know you can't win there!
Yeah, well, I'm driving my daughter up to meet her group of friends (and boyfriend) who are going up earlier.
I'm off on Friday's, she needs a ride, and it's in Nevada. So then I get to thinking, make the two hour drive, stay and hour, drive back two hours (she has a ride back). Why, that's just not fuel efficient, stay over at least one night...Stanley has to work Saturday anyway...so I've rationalized myself into a one nighter, Harvey's no less. I'll let you know how it went.
The new boyfriend wants to know if I play poker...hmmm.... |

You can win in tahoe. I won $5000.00 in Tahoe at Harrahs several years ago on a $2.00 max bet dollar slot.
Good Luck there! |

I just booked the room and got a great rate. $69 at Harvey's, Harrah's was only $89, for a Friday night!
I may try some different games, maybe even a Texas Hold 'em game with the new boyfriend, but how can that turn out well? I win, I feel bad taking the kid's money, he wins, I feel bad, losing my money, nah...I think I'll go against the house.
Now, what game was that you were on Alison? |

Good luck on your Tahoe trip, RenoLady, and thanks for waking up the board. I was starting to think everybody was out of town. |

The game was called "satlelite" or something along those lines. Not sure that its still there. They had rearranged everything last time i was there.
I could not believe it when i won though. I was in shock |

Hey John, glad to turn off the snooze button!
You know Alison, I've never played old fashioned reel slots, like the one it sounds like you won on. Those used to be considered the worst odds in the house, but now, my beloved penny video slots take that honor. Let's see, play $3.00 max on pennies a pull, with the hope of winning a $200 jack pot. I think I'll look for a dollar one with the two coin max and run a $20 or two through it, then maybe head to video poker and behave myself. |

The $1.00 slots seem spendy, but are better odd's then the penny slots. You defeintely have a better change of winning big on the $1.00 slots. It seems like a lot, but when you consider what we drop in those penny slots, its not.
Did you see that article i posted on the board about gaming revenue? Most of the slot revenue came from penny slots. Imagine that. |

I didn't see the article, but have heard that. It was funny, when the Wynn was going up in Vegas, there was all this talk about how they were catering to the whales, and big spenders, and you wouldn't see any penny slots there. Well, they now have their share, as does the Venetian, Bellagio and the new Palazzo. So it must be where the money is for the house, now if I could only connect that fact from my intelligent side, to the gambling side..... |

Hi RenoLady, best of luck on your trip! Well I'll admit the gaming isn't great in comparison to Reno but I have gotten lucky a few times over the past few years, two $1500 wins at the Horizon and about $1400 altogether at Harveys. I agree with Alison, avoid the pennies and multiliners there, they do hit occasionally but it's not worth the fortune you usually spend to get there LOL. I'd try the dollar machines at the Horizon (in front of Josh's restaurant) and stick with the "3-5 spins or get up" rule at Harrahs and Harveys, didn't have any luck there until this February! And most definitely, skip over Montbleu, you won't win a red cent, they will only tick you off!
Hope you have a blast. I'm due back in a couple of weeks...we're still getting a little snow here!

fUNNY TITLE...
But, yeah, you are right. i was out of town -- still am, in fact. In point of fact, I LIVE OUT OF TOWN. So where should I be?
Have battled the flu for two weeks since last Reno trip. Someone left germs on the VP machines and took all the credits OUT.
Soon as I get over the flu, I am scheduling a RENO trip.
Hundred degrees in so OR. Breaking all time records. Get ;;me to Reno...
where it's cool and wet indoors. |

I took all of your advice and did pretty well.
Funny, I ordered one of the standard Mountain Tower rooms at Harvey, 362 sq ft. I could have done Harrah's larger rooms for $20 more, but thought, 362 sq ft is nice. WELL! the $%^&#!'s put me in the smallest room ever. I mean small. I've been in small rooms before, like the garden rooms at the Nugget in Sparks. This was small. I walked it off, 100 sq feet. AND directly outside my window was the dreaded parking garage roof, I could have walked directly out on it. I called down, made noise, they're scared and now I'm in a Lake tower, huge room, looking at the lake, okay, that's better, still $69.
My daughter and I tried the reel slots, held our own, and then, the magic words: "Mommy! I just won a $1000 dollars!" We split our wins, so all is good. Yes, she was playing one of those dollar reel slots, 2 at a time. she put a $10 in and hit bar, times 10, bar for $1000! |

Good job on the room, RL. So, it's true - the squeaky wheel rolls around bigger rooms. Great win for your daughter, too. I'm really excited for her and looking forward to my commission check. |

I'm thinking when I checked in they probably only had the crappy little box, for a room, and an upgrade, and since I was only paying $69 on a Friday, well, I'd get the box. My squeaky wheel was more like the sound during a blow-out when the rubber comes off the tire, and metal hits concrete.
Da Mom got the commission, but ya'll have our undying love and appreciation (don't try and spent that anywhere). |

John, I got your commission for you, right here....
subtitled: "Commission this!!!"
Guess I shoulda called this reply, "Dis and Dat".
My title is practice for ordering the southern Q at Mammy's Funky Chicken BBQ Palace opening soon at the Pep.
BTW, does anyone have an opening date for the Q Palace?
And on another note: Friend just returned from his first stay at Eldo and told me that he "really put a hurt on the Eldo" while playing the quarter reel slots. Now I gotta try to find out specifically where that one machine was located.
Weather in OR breaking heat records at same time as Reno, several days in a row. Now rainy, windy, cold. It was over 100 degrees in Brookings on the Pacific Coast a few days ago. That is unbelievable!!!
Walking the streets between casinos in Reno can be unbearable at 100 degrees. Your skin feels that it is burning. |
