I thought I would add another short trip report - this time I went to Lake Tahoe. A friend of mine is a BIG gambler with Harrah's, and he invited me and my wife to take a private cruise on Bill Harrah's old private yacht - the Tahoe Star. The trouble was we had to be at Harrah's at 9:30 AM, and I live 200 miles away. So, we got very early, hit the road, set the cruise control at 75 in the flat lands, kept my eye on the rearview mirror, and made it to Lake Tahoe in 3 hours and 5 minutes! A record for me.
The cruise on the Lake was wonderful!! There were only 6 of us with a crew of 3. They had an open bar, and a huge spread of food. Now that is the way to cruise Lake Tahoe.
After the cruise we checked into MontBleu for two nights. Included with the free nights I got two tickets to see the Doobie Brothers. I also had my standard $75 in free play and $35 dining credits. I also had a birthday offer that I used for another $50 in free play and another $35 dining credit. We were also invited to the RoyalBleu private cocktail party before the concert where my wife and I both won another $100 each in free play. Things were looking good for sure.
The concert was great. I was put on the invited guest list, and they seated us in the very front seats. That is the way to see a concert!
We did try our luck in the casinos, and we found out we had luck--- bad luck. Despite getting $325 in free play, we still ended up on the short side. Oh well, we had fun anyway.
Lake Tahoe was just packed Saturday and Sunday. They had some major concerts playing - Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, and Toby Keith. I have never seen so many people at the south shore casinos, but it was fun.
Monday morning we packed up and decided to take a hike. On the boat cruise we saw the Vikingsholm castle in Emerald Bay, so we decided to take the tour. It is a little over 2 miles roundtrip, but you drop down about 1,000 feet. The trip down was easy, but coming back up the hill was a challenge. It was well worth the trip up and down the hill.
Well- that is all I can think of. That is my story, and I am sticking with it. |

Good report, Swede. Don't ya just love the special treatment? How did Harrah's feel after you rode their boat, drank their booze and ate their food, then stayed at the Montbleu?
Sorry about your bad luck at the gaming, but it seems to be going around lately. |
