First visit to Reno coming up and staying at the Peppermill but want to spend some time downtown. Where is the best place to park downtown. Is it just a straight shot down Virginia street for 2 miles. Any preferences downtown for easy in/out? Any parking to avoid if I'm coming in/out at 4 am? Thanks |

I can think of only 2 properties that have standard parking lots - Sands and Siena. The other majors have parking garages, which are free with validation, and not accessible from Virginia Street. They can be accessed from Sierra Street for hotels on the west side of Virginia, and Center Street for those on the east. At 4 am, you should encounter little traffic.
During the day, I rarely drive downtown due to traffic, relying instead on the bus. It costs about $2 per trip or $1 for seniors. I always put a dollar in the slot and am never asked for ID, which is a little painful. |

Circus is free to park in their garage. No validation necessary, however, depending where you're playing, could be a hike. |

Silver Legacy also doesn't charge for parking (No validation needed; entrance is on Sierra Street), though you usually have to go up several floors before you have a chance to park in a spot that isn't completely sealed in between two monster SUVs that will probably shred your paint, trim, and tires on their way out.
Other than that, it's great! |

We usuallt park at Harrah's when we visit downtown. No charge or valdation, and it puts you in the middle of everything. Also Cal-Neva has done away with validation. |
