Sheesh, what a quiet board.

Is everyone off hiding their money in mattresses, or burying it in the backyard?

Guess no big trips to Reno planned.

Since I haven't put in much of any trip report, I will make this one small observation: The much-loathed "Super Single Deck" blackjack, with its measly 6:5 payoff for a natural, is now not even proclaimed as such.

It's a subtle change, but the big signs that used to identify such games have been made much more subdued. Apparently, we are supposed to begin accepting this as the "Ordinary" Blackjack, and become completely unaware that we're being shorn even thinner than usual.

Well, I am heading to Reno on Tuesday night: Late flight out of Seattle. I can not wait. Planned stay in a luxury room at the El-Do, see two shows, dinner at Louie's Basque Corner, mani-pedi at Soak Salon, massage at Soliel Spa, and gaming until my wallet bursts. My 403(b) is heading down, layoffs abound in my community, social service funding (my field) is coming. But I am going to gamble, drink, eat red meat, and watch people.

Come on people, I'll be at Louie's Basque Corner on Wednesday night (10/15), join me for a cocktail and let's get this board talking.

We won't be there until the next week. Oct 17th Harrahs Tahoe; Oct 18 Fitz's in Reno for the crabfest.

I emailed Fitz's to see if the crabfest was still on, they emailed back, yes, maybe the last hurrah.

I'm thinking they should have a BIGGER last hurrah; you know, raffle off the furniture and ashtrays; feed us free with the food that will perish; crank up the slot return to 101%; bring back the GOOD rules in the pit, you know bon voyage and all.....

Kinda tongue in cheek, but I AM going to suggest it when I'm there.

I'm on track for sixteen trips this year, about my normal pace. Sadly, not much to report except more casinos in their death spirals.

Well my plan is to take my annual fall colors drive along Hwy 88 and Hope Valley- perhaps next week. I usually find myself at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden for a gambling fix too. I will drive home via Tioga Pass (Yosemite) or Hwy 108 (Sonora Pass). I know this is not Reno, but Minden is close.

Me 'n the guys are coming to Reno at the end of October. The Canadian Dollar is falling right now against the American Super Buck. (I'd be glad to explain why but there's just not enough space here.) So I'm gonna try something new. I'm not bringing any money. Hopefully Fitzgerald's casino credit is still up and running upon my arrival. I plan to hit 'em up for a few thou and pay 'em back sometime in December. HA HA HA! Ain't I a genius? Don't you guys wish you had thought of that? Laughing

I think if they had done all that in the beginning, they'd have one of the most successful casinos in Reno. Except for the 101% payback. 98% would work just fine.

Our farewell trip to the Fitz

We'll be leaving in the morning for the Fitz, for the last stay. Taking our usual route so we can enjoy the fall colors (SR 88 to 395). We usually make our Oct. trip for my BD and for the slot tourney, though I'll be playing in my last slot tourney, this trip will be to spend time with some of our Fitz friends and to say goodbye one last time.

The Fitz has been our home away from home for the last four years, have always had a great time there, it's going to be hard to say goodbye. No, it wasn't a 4 star hotel but they always made us feel welcome and treated us well.

We'll spend a little time wandering around town, trying to pick out another place that we can call our home away from home for future trips. Haven't stayed at Harrah's yet, nor the Legacy. Any advice on either of those? Are there any that offer slot tournaments or texas hold'em tournaments?

Thanks all! Will write a trip report when we get back.

PEB

R and I just got back from our last trip there. It was pretty sad. We talked to some of the employees, NO one had a "good" job yet. They were out of a lot of food choices, but it might have been them underestimating their inventory and not wanting to order too much. They had no steak or pork chops by Sunday. (The delivery has come since, I'm sure, so you'll be alright.)

Harrah's is our new home, though we haven't stayed at the one in Reno yet, the Tahoe properties and service is very nice. I liket the comps with them.

Have fun!

Sorry PEB that has to be a little depressing. I am sure you guys will have one last hurrah for old time sake. Wish you luck and since they are closing up you mine as well win a bunch of $ from them!
Goodluck and have a safe fun trip!
