We had a great time running up to Reno for a little "us" time and to say goodbye to the Fitz.
Got to Reno around 3, checked into our great room (vip check was great not wait and got a drink as soon as we walked in) and got ready to run. Played for a few hours, up and down when we went back to the room we were even. Had dinner and gambled for a little while longer, went to bed up $200.
Next day, got the car and ran to Scheel's in Sparks (all I can say is WOW). Spent a few hours there just looking while my hubby got ready for his next fishing tournament. Had lunch and just went shopping for awhile.
Got back to the hotel unloaded our stuff in the room and decieded to say "goodbye" to the Fitz. After 2.5 hours there we were up $300 and decieded to call it good. We wanted our last memories of the Fitz to be good ones and leaving while up did just that. Gambled so more back at the ED and headed to bed.
Got up Friday to breakfast in bed and got ready to check out. Gambled about 1.5 hours more at the ED and checked out. Ran to Boomtown to shop at Cabela's and played some at Boomtown.
Had a great trip left about even (with to shopping trips) and got to just veg.

Nice trip Erin!
R and I left money at our last Fitz stop, but rationalized it with it might help cover the free room and food they gave us, you know how it goes.
We've only been to a Bass Pro shop, and R still walks it when we're in Vegas (I can ogle about 1/2 as long as he). Anyway, how do the two compare in Reno? And isn't there another planned? |

In my opinion Scheel's is much better. For one thing, they seem to cater to a wider variety of sports fans, including skiers, bikers, water sports, general athletics, etc. Cabela's has some variety but they seem to concentrate mostly on hunting and fishing. Scheel's is much larger, including a full size operating Ferris wheel in the middle that you can ride.
There was talk of another mega-sports store at the South end of town near Mt. Rose Hwy. But then, there was talk of a new Stations casino in that area, too. With this economy neither one is happening very fast. |

Out of Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's and Scheels: My favorites are 1 Bass Pro 2. Scheels, 3. Cabela's. They are all nice, but the way the stores are set up, what I enjoy looking at, and what I might buy.
I was very impressed with Scheels, my hubby was talking about it for days and I was dreading it, but I was very happy once we were there. Scheels to me was Big 5 on steriods and better decorators.
