|
|
I'm going to Reno later today and I'm staying at Legacy (not my choice, I've mostly stayed at Peppermill for the last few years). After reading a bunch of bad reviews on tripadvisor, I'm a little nervous. Does anybody know which room type or location should I ask for in order to get a clean, not disgusting room? _________________ Everyone knows it's unlucky to be superstitious! |

the last time I stayed at the SL (a few years ago) we lucked out with a nice room. Just make sure you aren't right next to the elevator, they can be a little loud.
Good luck and have fun

I hate the Silver Legacy. The rooms are dumpy if you ask me. You better off at Circus Circus. |

It's been a few years since I have stayed there, and like the comments, I wasn't impressed with the small room, saying that however, we did "upgrade" to a spa suite once. Basically, the midweek $49 rate became $98 for the large room. The spa was surrounded by windows, pretty cool, and it was nicer. |

I'm one of the very few on this board who will defend the Legacy - just follow the advice about being away from the elevators, ask to be put on as high a floor as possible, and to be facing East, if at all possible - just not West, which gives you a direct view of the sunset, which is a little harsh.
Heck, ask for an upgrade; you never know! |

Sorry Alison, but although I don't gamble there much, I've got to come to the Silver Legacys defence as well. I've stayed there quite a few times and the rooms have always been nice. We've used their pool a few times and it's great on a not so warm day since the mirrored windows on two wings of the building focus the available rays down onto the pool. Their lobby is gorgeous and their casino has nice clean air (for those of you who like that). Good food can be found at the Sedona, "Flavors" their buffet, Sterlings Seafood and Steakhouse and I'm told Fairchild's Oyster Bar is great as well.
They've been generous in the past when a bunch of us from work have all been offered the casino rate even though most of us are not big gamblers. |

Yeha i knew there would be a few of you defending the legacy.
My experience though was not great. The I still think the Circus is better. |

Thanks for all your replies. I got a room high up, facing the mountains.
Met my expectation: dirty, worn down carpeting; staff is very nice; and the late night cheeseburger special at the restaurant was excellent.
Disappointments: When I checked in, the room smelled like perfumed air freshener -- which is actually more like air grossener; now, my non-smoking room smells like cigarettes, as the ventilation system has been spewing smokey air from the rest of the hotel; the bed sucks; and the pillows suck (I did bring one with me as I expected I would need it).
Pleasant surprises: free local calls -- I'm using dialup; comedy central on the TV; and a coupon book with free drink, free newspaper, and free coffee.
The front desk guy said there were some renovated rooms, but he didn't have a list of which rooms were done. I think I'll call maintenance to ask them where I should ask for a room which is in good repair and has good ventilation. I'll try to move if I can.
It's way past time for big renovations here. However, with the economy as it is, and with circus and eldorado each having their own hotels to make 100% of the profits from, I wouldn't hold my breath for upgrades to their shared property, the legacy, any time soon.
No, I haven't won anything here yet either!
Oh well... at least I'm back in Reno!

It's hard to further defend the Silver Legacy given Joeschmeaux's most recent experience. Perhaps I am given clean rooms that smell OK because I hang out with Mr. Reno and Jerry. It pays to be seen with the right people you know. |
