Rumors that the Silver Club in Sparks may be closing got some play in the RGJ. Nothing confirmed, but the current owner says if ongoing negotiations for sale of the place fall through, closing up is the next option. The place is small and run down, but they have good food specials in the coffee shop and the blackjack is decent.

One of the ladies who works at Street Vibrations said a slot club host at the Silver Club told her to start using all her food comps because closure is a strong possibility. This was over a month ago. |

Silver Club has been horribly mismanaged for quite a while, focusing on coin-playing fleas instead of trying to get the overflow from JA Nugget. It's closure would be no surprise, having been predicted by several of us. Better would be if someone with a functioning brain purchased the dump. We'll see.

You just got to wonder who will be the next one not to survive in this economic era.
The Nugget must be suffering too. They have 1600 rooms to fill, and are pretty much out there all by themselves. |

I just purchased my tickets for a Feb 17-20 trip to Reno/Tahoe with my son's father-in-law. Will anything still be open? It sounds grim.
