I see Jerry wrote a trip report, so I thought I would do the same. My wife and I spent a couple of nights at Reno's better looking sister- Lake Tahoe. We were going to leave Sunday morning, but I checked CalTrans and Yikes- chains required, heavy snow, and Hwy 50 closed to clean up numerous accidents and spinouts. We do have a big 4WD truck with snow tires, but I just don't want to get involved in that. Anyway, we did take off in the early afternoon, and made it just fine. It was snowing pretty good in places, but they took off the chain controls. Now if you were traveling FROM Lake Tahoe, it was just crawling at about 10 mph the whole way.
When I made my reservation at MontBleu, the gal mumbled something about contacting a host about getting a suite for me, and they delivered. My room was on the top floor and huge. It was a 1200sf room- bigger than my first house! It had two bathrooms, living room area, kitchen, dining table, fancy Jacuzzi tub, steam shower etc. The views were great of the snow coming down in the area. Ah... the good life.
So, we head over to the Horizon for a few beers, video poker and I like that taco stand deal ($1.50 tacos) Yum. We wandered down to Harvey's for a blue moon on tap, over to Harrah's, and listened to the MoTown type band for a while, and not having much luck with the video poker. We stopped in at Bill's, and once again hardly anyone in that place.
Monday morning I headed down to the slot club at MontBleu to activate my triple cash back deal. I also had $200 in free play with my offer, and decided to try $100 of it on the $1 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker game. I had some luck, and after 10 minutes cashed out $260 in real money.
For dinner I also received a coupon for $75 dining credit. We ate at Cierra and had a very nice dinner. We ordered the chateubrian for two ($90) with a nice bottle of wine. It was good, but I think I can grill a steak as good on my BBQ at home.
Well, we had some pretty good luck in the casino, and I would have done better if I had not played some 3 card poker. I like playing that game and talking with the other players. There was one gal playing with some dark colored chips (table minimum for me). I found out she was playing the max. $200, so if she played a hand it was $600. Way too rich for me!
Well, that is about it. We got home early Tuesday afternoon, so it was a quick trip. I used my comps for the meals, room was free, and I counted my money when I got home. The exact amount we left with-amazing it was on the dot. I just paid for my gas-not too bad I think. |

Thanks for the TR (Jerry, thanks for yours, too.)
Speaking of high rollers, about 10 years ago in Vegas I saw a guy at a private BJ table playing all 7 spots and betting $3,000 on each spot. Yikes! That's $21,000 in about 10 seconds, and that's when a dollar was worth a lot more. I know there are lots bigger games, but this was on the main casino floor, not a high roller salon. |

enjoyed the TR, Swede. Thanks.
Rem: I had a lady this weekend sit next to me at penny machine. I looked over to see what she put in/.......
It was 248,888 credits. That is indeed a lot of pennies.
She left 5-9 minutes later with about 245 K. |

Nice trip Swede, that is my goal, to have a comped trip, cycle the money, return home even. I'm not looking for the big win anymore, and realize the win IS the comps. period. |
