I know this forum is about Reno, but I also know several out there also take in a visit to Lake Tahoe. In case you didn't know, the Horizon slot club is no more. However- all is not lost. For a limited time (?), you can take your Horizon slot club card over to MontBleu, and they will transfer your comps to their system, and issue you cash back due to you. Sunday I received $37 in cash, and they transfered $40 in comps to use at MontBlu.

Did you hear why it is no longer??

Glad you were able to redeem your cash still. Smile

Is the place about to fold? It's the only place that I have encountered Jerry's horse race game in the last 10 to 15 years. Sigma Derby! That's it. John the search function actually works and is useful.

That's because Micro$oft had nothing to do with it.

The owners of the property of the Horizon have said they do not plan to renew the lease when it expires. Not sure when that is -2012? A management company came in and took out all the table games and left in only about 200 slots....it looks really empty. They say they are waiting for gaming commission approval to get more machines.... but who knows.

It sure looks like the Horizon is on the way out, and if anyone has points there, better grab anything you can get soon.

Oh. The Sigma Derby is also gone from the Horizon, and is now over at MontBleu.

I sure hope not to hear that lame-ola "CONDOS!" announcement; it's getting really tiresome.

Yes, Stan I also heard that word: CONDOS too, but you get credit for mentioning it first.

I also heard that the Horizon will be demolished and they will take the "room allocation" and use them to build something on the Edgewood Golf Course. The owner of the land of the Horizon also owns the Edgewood land.

Who knows? Nothing has been decided at this point, but if you look at the declining gambling revenue at South Tahoe, I doubt it will be a gambling place at some point down the line.

Oh, say it isn't so...the Horizon really might be going out? My most favorite in Tahoe, and just about the ONLY place I've had any luck?

The only thing I had noticed, actually a couple of things, on my last pass thru trip in April were that VIP Services seemed to be completely closed. They were making everyone check in at the front desk regardless of status (and were also charging incidental deposits regardless of status) I did happen to notice that they were running a promo where card points could be earned and used between both properties.

I'll have to do a little investigating and see if it's surefire yet, hopefully I'll at least be able to get one last trip in. Jeez, and they just remodeled the place!
