Hi All,
Headed for Reno early, took our favorite scenic route ,hwy49 to 88, to enjoy the beautiful fall colors. The traffic was light for a Saturday, the drive was easy going. The fall colors were great with snow-capped peaks in the background.
We stopped at Costco in Reno for a little quick shopping then headed for the Circus parking garage. Found a spot on the 4th level, close to the walk-way to the hotel. Check-in was fast, found the tram and rode it to the Sky Tower. Our room was on the top floor (28th floor) at the end of the hall, what a view we had!
We had a mini suite, it had a livingroom with sofa sleeper, table & chairs, tv, coffee table, mini frig, etc. The bathroom was large with granite vanity top and shower surround. The bedroom also had a tv, the bed was comfy as were the plump pillows. It was large, clean and very quite. The in-room coffee wasn't too bad, the coffee maker made 1 cup at a time but it was fast.
We dropped off our bags in our room and headed back to the casino to sign up for the players card. We received $5 each in FreePlay and free entries to their free mini slot tourney, an extra $5 in FreePlay for giving our e-mail addy and an extra slot tourney entry. We gave the free slot tourney our best and would find out later that evening if we did any good.
Circus was packed with people, very lively in the casino. We walked around trying to get familar with the layout. Found the Change Exchange area where the coin slots were and found a couple of quarter machines to play. I had saved up my quaters for a year so had plenty to play with. I found an old favorite, RWB machine and played for a couple of hours on $20 ($10 of that was the FreePlay). It kept giving me something to play with although no big jackpot. The cocktail waitress finally found us, and after that, she came around about every 20 min.
We left the casino and decided to take a walk, walked through the Legacy and the Eldorado to go outside. Walked over to the closed Fitz to peek inside, we were surprised to see the gaming tables & slots still there, surprised it hadn't been gutted. It was sad to see it all closed up, we had so many fun times there. A few people passing by stopped to peek in also and said, "poor Fitz" as they walked away.
We decided on having an early supper (we hadn't eaten alll day) at the Brew Bros. Got there about 4 pm and didn't have to wait to be seated. Hubby had a couple of beers with his fish"n chips and I had the chicken fried steak, it was very good and the soup that came with it was fantastic, potato cheese. After we ate we headed back to Circus to get the car and drive to Boomtown where George would be performing.
Boomtown sure has changed a lot since we were there last. Didn't it used to have a truck stop? I didn't see one there anymore, nor their buffet that used to be so good. We walked around and finally found George, we only got to talk with him a little while before he had to go sing. It was for Keno tourney members only so we didn't get to see his show but it was nice to chat with him again. We'll keep in touch and find out where he'll be playing the next time we make it to Reno.
Back to Circus to play our fav quarter machines. We played for a few hours on a small amount of money, then watched a circus act and strolled around the arcade, so many people there! Took the tram back to our room and called it a night around 11 pm. Got up early and watched the beautiful sunrise, then headed for the buffet to get our 2 for 1 Brunch (begins at 7:30 am). The Circus buffet is large, clean and had a good selection. Hubby found the omlette cook station and I found some nice breakfast goodies. The food was good, had no complaints.
Time to get our bags and check out. Back to the room and used thier video check out, it was fast and no standing in line. All in all, it was a nice stay and plan on doing it again next spring. After counting our $$, we came out $30 ahead, not huge but at least we got a lot of bang for our bucks at the Circus casino. The drive home went smoothly, not much traffic, got back earlier than expected, nice trip |

Hello PEB and thanks for posting your report - sounds like you all had a great time and congrats on coming out ahead! I was wondering how you all would like it at the Circus Circus. In my few visits there even the standard rooms have been very nice, their slots seem a little better than the others (did you happen to notice if any of them are still dropping coins? I saw quite a large amount on my last trip). Their comp system also seems really generous to land free rooms here and there.
I'm seriously thinking about checking out the Circus Circus in Vegas on my trip this weekend - haven't been in that one yet.

MG,
"did you happen to notice if any of them are still dropping coins?" I haven't paid much attention because I am not a slot player myself except for VP, but I have notice a couple signs around town and on the CC marquee itself advertising coin-paid slots, so I would say they are probably still there. |

I was recently in a casino (I think fiesta henderson) where a posted sign proclaims that a 5% fee will be charged for cashing coins.
Folks, that is FIVE BUCKS to cash in a bucket of 400 quarters.
Wow!!!! |

sounds like you had a nice trip PEB. $30 ahead is better than anything left behind!
Circus gets an undeserved bad rep from it's sister property in Vegas.
MG: However the Vegas bad rep is deserved. It's dirty, crowded with kids, and lots of things don't work. The rooms are okay though. |
