With this economy I was finding myself a little short on Christmas shopping funds, so I was trying to figure out a way to get some quick cash---- Reno casinos are the answer. I booked two nights at the Peppermill and brought my daughter along who just loves those penny machines. We arrrived in Reno on Thursday afternoon to find about 6 inches on snow on the ground and many of the side streets unplowed and very icy. I decided to make our first stop at the Sands as I know they have some of the older penny machines that my daughter likes. I went over to the slot club booth to see if my old beach club card was still active. Yes- and I was told I have 23 cents of comps available.... whoopie!
My daughter found an old Munster machine, and I sat down at a nearby video poker machine and put in a $20 and started to play deuces wild. Well, that twenty went in about 2 minutes and I decided that I should preserve my bankroll for the next day and a half of gambling, so I moved down to the nickel level. Yes, you guessed right... three hands later I hit the deuces for $50 instead of the $250. We played there for about an hour on various machines, and we getting ready to leave. I had been playing bonus poker and on the last hand held two hearts (10 and jack) and the rest of the cards filled in for a Thousand dollar royal. We cashed out and heading for the Peppermill.
We checked in at the Peppermill, and got a remodeled room in the older tower. They are actually quite nice, and my room was a low number which meant way down the hall. This was great, as the secondary elevators were only a few steps away and in put you right in the middle of the casino.
Not too much to report on the Peppermill stay other than a lot of gambling and drinking. My daughter kept getting asked for her I.D.--- she is 32 and must get her youthfull looks from me ??? Hah.
I brought most of the royal money home with me, and that is good. I did not have a winning trip at the Peppermill this time. I have been very lucky there over the last few years. So, I found a new formula for a winning trip to Reno. Stop and hit a royal flush at the Sands, and then try to hang on to the money at the Peppermill.
I hope everyone out there has a nice Christmas and may 2010 be a great year for everyone. I hear Santa is handing out lucky charms to those that choose to visit Reno.
Talk about excess...... I may try to schedule in one more trip after Christmas to Reno or Lake Tahoe. |

Good job, Swede! It's always nice to start your trip with free gambling money. I know what you mean about your daughter getting ID'd a lot. It happens to me constantly. Thanks for the winning trip report. |

Good TR but you left out the most important part. We're all waiting to find out ..... what did you do with the 23 cents in comps? |

Those royals at the beginning of a stay are definately the way to go. I'm planning on doing that for my next stay too. |

The 23 cents in comps is still there. I am saving up to get a free hot dog on a future trip.
Also, concerning getting some money for Christmas Shopping. I was successful in doing that, but decided the heck with buying gifts for friends and relatives. I am going to use the funds for the next trip to a casino. |
