I wondered what the Peppermill was building in the back of their north parking lot. After just finishing the new expansion it didn't seem there was anything left to build.
It turns out they were drilling for geothermal energy and after spending about 8 million dollars they struck enough hot water to heat the entire operation - restaurants, casino, spa, hotel, the works. They expect to save about one million dollars a year so the entire investment will be recouped in 8 years. After that expect a big drop in room rates - not!

Fascinating reading. More people need to be checking out geothermal in NV.
Now can I please have back the steam showers I loved so much in the old spa suites in the old tower. I liked that better than anything in Tuscany.
As always, Remano brings us up to date on neat Reno activities.
Keep the news flowin, baby! |
