I had the pleasure of traveling with my lovely wife to Reno for Valentines Day. Unfortunately, for her, she thinks she is riding with Mr. Bean. Is that really a compliment when she calls me that?
Anyway, One of my other personalities started this TR last nite (late upon return from the Big R). But, since Mr. Bean never talks, there was no message. But tonight I am in charge (if that is any better).
We accepted the nice offer from Siena for free rooms and slot tourney. The drive down from OR went well. Light traffic. Snow flurries a couple times, no more than 15 minutes each. They do a good job on the 89/44 highway from I-5 at Shasta thru Susanville.
Checked in: room not ready. But he assigned us, as requested, nice room on 7th floor. Checked in at VIP, had champagne, rec'd drink badges and slot entry. Went to the bar and ordered the best "top shelf" stuff I could think of (are you with me, JD??). I ordered two martinis from Bombay Sapphire Gin, straight up, no olive. Delicious. Then two more, etc. You get the idea.
For JD, you see, I go for BOTH quantity and quality.
Played for awhile. No success. Back to desk about 4 pm. Room still not ready so we got another room, this time on 6. Toted the bags back and hit the casino again. No better luck. Had a few more Bombay Sapphires. The bartender remarked that, "it was too good to mix" so I had mine straight, but chilled.
We had tried initially, upon arrival, for resv at Lexies but they were overfilled and turned us down. Later, I checked back, got a table, and had two delicious meals (one apiece). Cocoanut Shrimp I can heartily recommend. great experience. Few more hours in the casino - no changes.
Next morning hit the slot tourney. Met some nice people. Played two sessions. I did lousy. Total of 19K. It took 24K to make the board and 28K to win the 1,500. Oh well, it was free and a lot of fun. Next morning, we had a dynamite brunch (all included) with all the bells and whistles in Lexies. Hey, that makes two meals in a row in Lexies. Not too shabby.
However, I do not care for the food in the coffee shop here. Over the years, I have tried nearly everything on the menu and just don't like it.
My last (of two) nights at Siena, I walked down to share my pension with the Fitz. I was a bit fuzzy from the Bombay Sapphires but know that I won pretty good and covered my Siena losses.
A very good experience. Well worth the trip so far. Coming next, we will detail our trip to the Peppermill. Alison, do I have your attention?
Stay tuned for Part DUO and the thrilling snow scene, hair=raising ride, pleasant times with police and DA's.
(Now, if this is anything like TV, I won't talk about any of those things when we actually get to part two.) |
