Somebody here recently asked about the Siena. The link below is for an article in the RGJ that details what's planned. In short, an expanded sports book (opens today), a new lounge/cabaret, a job fair tomorrow to fill 100 new jobs and a new CEO who plans some aggressive marketing.

Their going to double the size, going from six chairs to twelve. LOL From what i've seen, they never had much for a sports book, just a small odds board next to the entrance. Its never been anything more than a place to take a quick look at a score or two. |

The new sports book is a bit of an improvement, but not by much. The old sports book seemed to be built in a hallway between the coffee shop and the casino floor, with a few chairs along one wall and a few TV's on the other. The new one is in a corner of the casino floor, which provides more room and a more open feel. The betting counter is larger and features modern video odds boards. The players' area, while larger than the old book, has an uncomfortable, temporary look to it. There are 3 small, lightweight tables that might seat 15 players in total, plus a few other cheap looking chairs scattered around. They face a wall holding about a half dozen wide screen TV's with a large video screen on each side. To me, it all looks like it was hastily thrown together with the goal being to make it easy to take apart later. Maybe that was the idea - to get it up and running quickly while keeping the options open for later improvements. I hope they succeed in the long run. |

More news ... "The Loft," which is billed as a late night bar and social lounge, whatever that is, opens at 10:00 tonight at the Siena with live music. There were no more details in the announcement I saw. |

I sure hope it works out for them. Thanks for the updates Remano.
Man how I wish I was in Reno right now. Sitting down at the sports book
with all my winning parlay tickets (I'd tear them up later) in hand and a bloody Mary in the other. Look up at the televisions and all you see is college basketball! Dang!
Next year I tell ya! |

I've never received so much spam from Siena as the past few weeks.
It looks like they've changed management and most of the staff but I'm afraid they've burned too many bridges...not good when you're on the river.
Still, I'll probably stop in to check it out next visit.
Do they still have 10x odds at the craps table? |
