We arrived on Thursday, April 22 around 2 pm. Thanks to Southwest Airlines.
I was back to my conservative gambling ways this trip and had enough small wins to essentially break even. Had a lot of fun even though I wasn’t feeling in top form. I’ve decided to make this a picture based report as the details may well resemble other trips.
My home for 4 days...
The Riverwalk on our 2nd day there...
The Riverside from the Riverwalk
These old doors...
Not the Riverwalk but a nice walk anyway. Near St. Mary's Hospital...
Somebody mentioned Pho Country in a recent post. I tried it. Very good!
We ventured out to the Western Village in Sparks (good Blackjack rules)...
I walked out to John's place near the Peppermill. Not far past the Casinos you encounter Major General Jesse Lee Reno (or at least his statue) the town's namesake..
Long walk. This is looking back towards town...
You know you've arrived when the door opens and...
After a short visit with Charlie and Higgins we set off for the Peppermill... John and I both had some luck there.
The Peppermill's ongoing identity crisis; is it a neon glitz extravaganza or a gigantic tuscan villa?
Family scabble?
Back downtown...
Spent a fair amount of time here. And enjoyed it!
The arcade's still going strong at Circus Circus...
Made a brief appearance at the Bonanza. I was looking for some Scotch for a friend back home. Ben's discount liquors is next door.
Look what's still on the wall...
On Monday, April 26, we took off. The plane headed south then swooped around and came up the west side of Reno for some good parting shots...
Flying by the Peppermill, Virginia Lake and John's place. Can you see him waving? I can.
Till next time, funtown!!
It's been a long time since I've been to Reno on a weekend. The place still gets pretty busy. It was good to see the casinos hopping!
Hope you enjoyed this. I tried to take shots of some of Reno's treasures that we don't always think of.
Thanks John, Charlie and Higgins for your hospitality and humor. |

Thanks for the TR, Dave.
The pictures are really cool. Makes me feel like I live here...oh, wait...
It is currently reported that the Peppermill will recover from our wins by December 2012, just in time for the end of the world.
Charlie and Higgins ask about you frequently. |

Tremendous! And those aerial shots - icing on the cake!
Glad you could make it. |

Fantastic shots, Dave, a very good TR.
Loved especially those "wingwalking shots". But you were always the man.
I love roses but that pic of the two lovely white roses with the large thorn between was a bit excessive. |

Great pictures Dave. Thanks so much for taking the time to do a report.
So glad to hear that they were somewhat busy. Is Allegiant Air not flying out of Bellingham any more? I think that is the way you guys usually go or used to I should say.
Thanks again, great pictures!

Allegiant Air quit flying to Reno from Bellingham about a year ago. We're not sure why, as their flights seemed pretty full. Hope they resume the Reno flights some day soon as it was sure a lot more convenient for us. |

Those were great pictures. I love a trip report all done in pictures- my reading comprehension goes way up. Years ago in school when we had a book report due, I would always look for a "picture book". |

And you'd think it (a photo trip report) would be easy. But first I had to touch them up, shrink them to a web ready size, and upload them to "Photobucket.com".
Ah well, I'm glad to do it this way, as the trip, described in words, might sound a lot like previous ones.
Glad to see that all the Casinos that were open last time I was there still were. |

I thought the pics were fantastic, clear and beautiful. Wish you hadn't told us that you touched them up.
Speaking of touch-ups, maybe you can give me a "facial". |

Touch ups were mainly on the aerial shots. You know how grey and non-contrasty they can be. |
