Rain in Reno? Are you kidding? Flooded streets, oh what fun. Really didn't much bother our herd, as most of the flooding was caused booze on the brains of a few of our numb skulls.
Most of the YDDs (Young Dumb Drunks) arrived in Reno by 8:00 AM on the 30Th and were in Bed by 5:00 PM (yes PM not AM). Soo sorry, but the OWO's (Old Wise Ones) arrived in the afternoon about 4 PM, passed on the booze battles, and stayed focused on milking a few buck out of the Casino.
Around 10:00 some of the YDD's started wandering back to the Casino for another run at the Bar, and to visit their previous lost nickels and dimes. About that time, after assessing the over all condition of most of YDD's we decided to head for the rack.
Saturday after breakfast had cleared the heads of the wounded, most headed over to the Hoover for a run at the Casino's large stack of chips. I will keep the bragging to a bare minimum, but at one time I hit 3 straight 2-Way YO's! The Boys nailed $240 and I had $225, not bad. Actually some sombrero wearing dude, got hung up on a 4, and threw 6's and 8's till I thought hell would freeze over. Oh what fun!!! A couple hours later the dice turned to complete poop, and we all split. I will say one of the YDD rookies won over $700 and he was low MAN!
Saturday, night the "Big One", most who were still capable of walking headed for the Reno Hilton and their Rockin New Years Eve Party. My congrats to the Hilton for a great buffet dinner, and fine music. But then after 27 Gin on the rocks, we might have been eating hot dogs on stick and Monkey playing a Organ Grinder would have have sounded like Elton John. We all had a great time, greeted the New Year Properly and headed back to the Casino.
Just to end this madness, 15 minutes prior to leaving my wife nailed $88 on some darn Penny Slot. Then she headed over to her favorite VP Machine and hit a Royal in Clubs for a cool grand. Get us the Hell outta Town!
That's it folks, just another standard basic New Years Eve in Reno. Oh, we are already planning for next New Years Eve in Reno.

Sounds like a great trip. Where did you stay? Where was the good Craps action at? Congrats on your wife's wins. _________________ Go Ducks! |

In all fairness we had a great time at the Nugget in Sparks. However, we had even a better time gambling at the old Western Village in Sparks. The WV caters to the local crowd, but is only one of the few Reno area Casinos which actually gives a gambler a fair shake. The Craps Table is still only a Buck. Blackjack was available for $3 Min's, single deck dealt to the bottom. The deck is stripped and they control the max at $200 per hand. They do offer the "Royal Match" which is just another dumb bet. If I'm not wrong, all of their Gamemaker Machines had 9/6 JOB VP, which paid 4000 units for the Royal. Unfortunately, the Craps Table was only Double Odds. The WV was where we had a very good morning of playing "Slamming the Hoover".
We highly recommend the Nugget and the Western Village where we believe you still have a fighting chance. The herd is always treated very well, and encouraged to return, every year. |
