|
|
I am headed to Reno for the SuperBowl and was wondering where the best party will be. I went to the party at the Golden Phoenix last year and that just isn't going to happen this year is it? I am staying at Circus Circus so I will be downtown but I am willing to go out to the Nugget or Hilton or some place. I would like the free food/drink specials for a ticket price or whatever yall think is best. |

We bought tickets to the S.B. party at the Nugget in Sparks. We've gone the last 3 years. The ticket are $45, and include open bar throughout pregame, and game, along with buffet style food. The food is a mix of what they call stadium food, nachos, hambugers, and such. I highly recommend it. They mail us a flyer for it, and I'm not sure if you need to be a member of their slot club or not. If your interested, call their casino marketing at 1-800-468-4388 ext. 3373.

Orygun, if you can't get tickets for the Nugget party, try the party at the Sand's Regency. They have it in the "Just For Laughs" comedy club. Tickets are $30 per person and include all-you-can-eat stadium food, all-you-can-drink Bud, Bud Lite, wine and sodas, and a souvenir. We are also staying at Circus Circus, the Sand's is a short walk from there. We've attended this party for the last four years and have never been disappointed. Call 800-648-1153 and ask for Mick in the Sales/Marketing department, hopefully they still have tickets available. Have fun! |

For some reason, I thought that properties could not charge for Super Bowl parties because of trademark issues with the NFL..... |

I don't know about the charging for parties, but they can't use the name "Super Bowl" due to copyright issues. Seems to me if they don't call it a super bowl party, it isn't a super bowl party and they can charge whatever their greedy little hearts desire. |

After thinking about it, I think the issue was charging for admission and SHOWING the SuperBowl on the TVs or something like that. No can do without permission from NFL. You always hear that disclaimer before the game. "This broadcast is intended for..." |

I have read about this also in some of the Las Vegas usenet groups. Sounds kind of rediculous, but apparently you can't advertise a "superbowl" party as such. I believe they get around this by advertising a partying "during the superbowl." Who know, who cares. Never really paid attention to the schematics of it. All I know is that most places all have some large party going on.
I also went to the Golden Bird party last year. Wasn't bad. Was cheap as hell. $10 to get in, with buffet included. No drinks though. Beer was cheap. Service a bit slow. The big screens were really dim though. For the price, it was okay.
Trying to figure out where to go this year. I guess now I know why the casinos never advertise their superbowl events online now. Stupid rules.... |
