Some tips for renting a car in Reno. Before signing off look the car over like it's leaving the factory and you're the inspector. Make sure scratches and whatever are noted. Now it's time to check to see if there is a spare and take pictures front, back, both sides and underneath and one of the mileage on the odometer and the date(s) of the rental. Do the same when returning the vehicle. If, you have a good credit card you may not need the CDW. One thing to remember most cards will not insure a truck. Any other comments are welcome. Thanks. Good luck

I just rented a car from a major company and they beat the price of Hotwire for the same size vehicle and upgraded me The price for 5 days was about $125 including taxes and fees. This seemed like a great buy to me. Good luck.

My wife Just flew back east for 3weeks and she used Harrahs
marketplace for points on our card, and the price was
better than she could find any where else plus we got points
She used Dollar Rentals.

I've heard very good things about Dollar. I do know from past experiences here that the deposits they charge to your card are as follows, last time I checked:

Alamo - $100 + cost of rental
Hertz - $150 and the final bill is deducted from that, you get whatever's left or get charged if there's an overage
Enterprise - $150 + cost of rental
Budget - $300 + cost of rental if using a debit card, $150 + cost of rental if using a credit card

Also, one thing I learned here many years ago when I was still a visitor: as with most bigger cities, nine times out of ten, you'll almost always pay more renting from an airport - it's called the Airport Concession Fee. I've also had extra charges when renting from the kiosks at the casinos, but I think it's because they have a concierge that goes from property to property and the schedule is limited. Reno has several off-airport locations for most of the bigger companies, and it's definitely worth a Google to do a comparison if you're price conscious.

Read the contract most require you to fuel within 5 miles of the dropoff and keep the receipt to show them but don't give it to them. Where they make the $ is the extras. Also keep in mind that Enterprise has the $9.99 weekend special (Fr-Mo)l a Nissan Sentra or size vehicle and 100 miles daily. To me that is a great deal.
