Whitney Peak/CommRow/Fitzgeralds seems to have finally taken a substantive move toward completing their so-far-only-talk plan to reopen the hotel, hiring a construction firm to get going on the project. New target opening date is Spring 2014. This time it's for sure (maybe).
A non-gambling, non-smoking, climbing wall hotel is not what got most of us interested in Reno, for sure, but it's better than a dark empty building. And we can always hope that a little success here will put the owners in a position to open a casino in one of the neighboring buildings they also own.
