|
|
The Cal Neva has sold its hotel property, the Nevadan tower, to the Siegel Group which intends to convert it to long term residential rental. Siegel has also purchased the Virginian tower next to Cal Neva (no activity there yet), the El Cortez (currently being remodeled), the Senator hotel on W. 2nd St. (converted to Siegel Suites), the Truckee Lane Building (big plans for retail and offices but no construction yet) and the Nugget Courtyard (converted to Siegel Suites Sparks). Pretty active lineup, as this has all happened in just the last year or two.
The Cal Neva says they will continue to operate the casino and plan significant upgrades coming soon.

Lily liked staying there. I liked the old Onslow. Glad she will be put to some good use. |

Jeez, how many more unoccupied condos and office space can Reno handle??
I'm not exactly lamenting the loss of the hotel; though I was never inside it, the few available reviews didn't indicate anything very worthwhile... |

D'oh - then I shall withdraw my ill-informed lack of concern...we need those Cal-Neva people! |

Yes, heard about this recently. As some others have noted, a good number of the employees live there, and they unfortunately don't take large dogs or I would've been on it! Anxious to see if they've got any plans to refurbish, as I recall it was in pretty dire need.
