WPT Texas Hold 'em. I saw it today for the first time at the Bonanza, of all places. I don't know if it's anyplace else.
The game is based on the standard poker game, but each player plays individually against the dealer. You start with an ante bet to get your first two cards, then to see the flop you have to bet double the ante, or you can fold and lose your ante. You have the option of checking or betting on the turn and river, and you can fold at any time. When it's all over, you get even money on your bets if your best 5 card hand beats the dealer's, and the dealer takes your bets if his/her hand is better.
The ante bet only wins on straights or better and pushes (if your hand wins with less than a straight) or loses if you have less. I think that's the house's advantage because the odds of getting any particular poker hand are otherwise equal. I didn't play the game, just watched for a while so there may be some nuances I missed.
There is also a bonus side bet you can make on your first two cards. For example, pocket aces pay something like 30 to 1, pocket kings 25 to 1 and so forth, on down to ace/jack. You get the bonus regardless of the outcome of the main hand.
From what I saw, I would rather play real poker. I'd rather play against other players with a chance at a big pot now and then as compared to playing against the house with a totally structured betting arrangement. |

THEY HAVE THIS GAME AT TH SL. I'V PLAYED IT A FEW TIMES AND WON ABOUT 50 BUCKS EACH TIME. BASICALLY U HAVE TO PLAY ALMOST EVERY HAND BECAUSE U ARE ONLY PLAYING AGAINST THE DEALER. WAS PLAYING AT A TABLE ONE TIME AND 2 PLAYERS KEPT ON GETTING GOOD BONUSES BUT I COULDN'T GET ANYTHING HIGHER THAN POCKET PAIRS(I THINK IT PAYS ABOUT 3OR 4 TO ONE).THEY WERE HITTING 20 AND 30 TO ONE BONUSES. |
