Yes, Dave - old man winter has reared his ugly head. We had 2 - 12 inches of snow in the valley, with more to come today. The lake area is looking at 1 to 5 feet, more in the higher elevations. They are currently having a blizzard warning up there. Reno area has a winter storm warning.
Weather like this makes me glad I don't have a job. |

What made things worse was two inches of rain on Friday, which was close to a record, if not setting a new one. In the middle of the night a levee broke in Fernley just east of Reno, reportedly following two 4.0 earthquakes, flooding hundreds of homes in 3 feet of water. Nothing like that in our neighborhood but I've got to grab the shovel and get back to work on my first heart attack. |

Well, it just started snowing again about half an hour ago, and it's coming down like it means business. I'd post a picture but I don't want to go out in it. At least this should make mammothgambler very happy. |

John;
Should you find yourself snowed in...an electric helicopter in each hand and a bird on each foot might get you as far as the Peppermill.

That might work if I hadn't clipped the birds wings and crashed all the helicopters. Maybe a snow taxi? |

I was thinking of all you folks who reside in the area as I watched weather reports on t.v. over the weekend, and wondering if we'd start seeing the stories about the Truckee river overflowing in the downtown, and Harrah's having to shut down, and all the guests are forced out on to the street, where they'd now have to panhandle just like all the other street people, and so forth.
When they ran the bit about Fernley and showed the submerged suburbs, I remembered that my company has an office out there - at least, I hope it still does!
At least now they'll stop trotting out the stories about what a dry winter it's been! |
