Love it or Hate it......rumor has it that the infamous space/planet/Milkey Way (or whatever the heck you call it) carpeting in the casino will be changed

What! What a bummer. I kinda like it. I guess they are trying to be the top place in town so the planet theme does not fit with the new image.

I'm not a fan of the carpet, but it does kinda go w/all the neon. I wonder what they'll change it to?

For my money, ALL THE CARPET in NV looks alike.
In fact, just two weeks ago at Ali's Kassel, I remarked to my wife (while looking at the new carpet on 2d floor) that it looked just like all the rest and "how do they keep making all these new carpets that are different but somehow look the same".

There is a guy that has gone all over and photgraphed casino carpeting. I really don't pay much attention to carpeting, but I am always looking for a dropped $20 bill. Very Happy

Here are some shots of carpeting in Reno- including the Peppermill:

Check out some of the other strange carpeting around. Shocked

They just recarpeted the casino last summer with that design, and the walkway from the parking structure, part of the new expansion, has the same carpet. If they were planning to change the design I would think they wouldn't have used it in the new part or recarpeted for just a year. But then, I suppose plans change and anything can happen.

yes Remano, I noticed that too (the carpeting in the skywalk) That was a heads-up for me that they won't be doing anything to it but I could be wrong?

I think I'm going to contact them and start a "Save the Milky Way carpet" campaign...

Maybe I should feel silly. I have been in the Peppermill hundreds, if not thousands of times, but never noticed anything unusual about its carpet. In fact, I couldn't tell you anything about any casino carpet. Am I in the minority here?

After looking at that carpet link (which was great BTW), I'd always thought the Peppermill had that planet-type carpeting throughout the whole place.

I'll have to pay more attention next time...LOL

I'm with you, LVBear - Carpeting seems to be the last thing I'm gazing at when in a casino - all the pretty lights tend to occupy my attention.

Reading the interview with some Peppermill bigwig in this months Casino Player magazine sure sounds like the Pepp is going to be nothing but first class all the way (making it more and more like a vegas resort)

The carpet being laid (wish I was) as we speak is a different design, more like the standard all over Nevada. They were doing the second floor while I was there yesterday and it is DEFINITELY different.
