Talk about exploitation if it's true!
I saw this on Las Vegas Advisor and was wondering if anyone had more on it, whether it makes the casino a villan or providing needed jobs, I would like to know more about it.
March 17, 2008 Reno Casino Importing Staff from Abroad According to Philippine News, a hotel-casino in Reno has imported 160 contract workers from the Philippines. The casino, identified only as "one of the most modern" in the area, employs them in housekeeping and kitchen duties, says the paper, which adds that their contracts call for a 32-hour work week (at the employer's discretion) at $9/hour, tops. Mostly college graduates, the workers are obligated to pay $4,000 minimum to their recruiting agency and are being housed, eight to an apartment, in a block of unfurnished, two-bedroom apartments "within walking distance" of the casino. The Reno-area Filipino community has come to the rescue of the guest workers, many of whom lacked warm-weather clothing, among other necessities. |

Check my subject line. But it seems to me that the last time I stayed at the Fitz, there were a bunch of Filipinos manning the registration.
At my age, my memory is fuzzy but I thought it was different than what I encountgered at most hotels in Reno.
Was it Furrlined Husky that said: "She's my Filipino Baby, and I love her, yessiree"? |

That's what I was thinking, based on where we all play, it's something we would notice.
I'll be up there Tuesday night for a one-nighter on the way to Vegas, think I'll ask around..... |
