My hubby and I were thinking about going up to Reno sometime in January, but with us driving over the summit we can't book a room in advanced. Can anyone tell me if there are big events (besides New Years and the supper bowl) going on so we can possible plan a quick trip without having to book a room far out.
Thanks in advanced & I hope everyone had a great holiday and a happy new year.

Reno is DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!No one there except Asians.
don't know where they came from but they are there by the hundreds. Large families, most all with kids. Chinese New Year???
Frequently out of groups of 100 people last week, my wife and I were the only Caucasians in the 100.
She was reading in the Leg lobby and someone came by and served her a glass of champagne. Pretty neat. |

Check out the Eldorado, they just sent out an offer to $29 midweek (don't recall the weekend) for Jan and Feb.
As for big events, the Reno-Sparks Visitor & Convention website (www.visitreno.com, under Meeting Planners) has a calendar by month of the major events/conventions. I check it out before every trip to make sure I do not arrive during the annual high school basketball event (which had 1,000+ kids in town)
Good luck. |

Mommy2- I really don't think you will have to worry about getting a room in Reno. All the places are hurting, and usually will be happen to see you. I seldom book far in advance. A week ahead is about the longest I plan. I have even decided to head to Reno or Lake Tahoe after I wake up in the morning. A few times I come up without any reservation and have always found a place to stay....I have never had to sleep in my truck yet.
Have a good trip when you do decide to go. |
