Well this was a win win trip. You may believe it, you may not.
We left Raleigh and flew 4 hours to Salt Lake City. I watched Fred Clause movie. It was cute. Sky West had mechanical problems and a 2 hr delay getting to Reno. They gave a $7 meal voucher and we bought a basic sandwich for $8. Go figure.
Got into Reno and checked into a 16th floor Deluxe Tower room. Very nice!
This was a Grand Opening celebration, of the Edge, Bimini Steak House, Spa and Chi (not open yet).
The Delahoya – Pacquiao fight was scheduled Saturday night and the Pep was packed.
We registered for the Stocking Stuffer slot tournament in the Tuscan Tower Ballroom. The new section is truly beautiful. Gary had a comp for the slot tournament. I paid $99 for an entry. We both did poorly the first 2 rounds. Third round I had the session top score of 17,668. I got a Peppermill candle. I laughed but it is in a nice glass cylinder. I came in 21st for $100. That surprised me. Got my entry fee back.
We swiped our Player Cards everyday. Got 2 free nights, $10 off a meal at the New York Deli Sports Bar, $4 off the Coffee Shop, $5 free play at the arcade, $5 off at Saucy’s, a couple $3 coupons for the gift shop. Gary had a chance for the Mr. Money Board and made $50.00
We used the one for the Deli Sports Bar. Sandwiches so big I had to eat it with a knife and fork. Gary couldn’t finish his either. We also used the one for the coffee shop.
We didn’t eat fancy (too busy gambling) -
I’m going to make this short and sweet
4 Natural Royals (1 for me – 3 for Gary) We play deuces wild bonus.
1 $1,000 accumulated amount of video poker for one session of play
1 hit at triple/double diamond slot jackpot of $1600.
We had $150 in free play, cashed that out for $75.00
We played other video slots around the casino and held our own, nothing to shout about.
Trip home was easy 6 ˝ hrs.
All said and done we came home and deposited more money than we took out.
Great Trip – hopefully but unlikely to be repeated next Spring.

RL - it was unreal. I hit a royal first afternoon at the cube bar. We play 5 quarters, deuces wild bonus for $1,000. Next day Gary playing the same game at the same amount hit a natural at the cube bar. Then he hit play the same game at the Forest Bar back by Saucy'es BBQ. The 3rd one Gary hit was on the deal, at the cube bar by the cocktail waitress station. He sat there thinking what the hell just happened. My $1600 came from a Triple Diamond 2 coin slot machine. W2G came from a bank of $1.00 machines near the casino side elevator. We had hit two hit 2 natural royals last trip and thought that won't happen again. But you got realize we play very hard. 12-14 hours a day. We are devoted once we get there. We only get the opportunity to gamble at a non Indian, or State regulated (WV) casino if we don't travel to Reno. We don't care for Las Vegas and Peppermill is our choice for a casino.
Believe it it or not! It is the truth! We are still just stunned at our luck! |

I love hearing that you're hitting them at the bars. Folks say you can't win at them, but I've hit one once at the bar.
It's also nice to hear you're winning. I was wondering if the economy would show itself at the machines. You know, when it's slow, and there's no money going through, the returns are also slow....whether that's actual or just perceived, I don't know. |

Garyandsharon -
Happy New Year and congrats on the big wins! That was truly a big bolt of luck for you all, especially on the Triple Double Diamond...was that 1600 the top jackpot? I'm going back on Friday for the weekend, responding to a discounted Grand Suite offer I received, so at least now I know which machines to check out haha. Good to see your flights were ok except for the mechanical problems.
Thanks again for the TR!

MG Thanks
on the win - it was second tier. I thought I had won the 5,000+ but that was the triple triple diamond.
Still happy with the 1600 win.
Good luck this weekend.
